The October/November exchange will be a two-month long round that is open to everyone - even non-members! Yep, you heard right you don't have to be a member of fantasy-xchange to sign up for this round. Anyone who meets the basic art requirements will be allowed to sign up and participate.
If you're worried about the basic art requirements - don't. The standards are going to be the same as the standards in the Anthro-Fantasy-club exchange. I just want to make sure that you know how to create a completed, colored picture before I let you sign up. The guidelines are below if you're interested.
NOTE: MEMBERS OF fantasy-xchange ARE AUTOMATICALLY ALLOWED INTO THIS ROUND. I'm only going to look over non-members galleries to make sure they meet the basic requirements.
Basic Art Requirements:
For all non-members
I need at least 3 examples of colored pictures in your gallery. If your whole gallery is sketches and inked pictures, you will probably not make it in. (note: I might make an exception if your sketches are really nice [like Marvel-styled inks] but I prefer to see some colored pictures over just sketches.)
For traditional Artists who aren't members:
You need to know how to properly photograph or scan your artwork. Here's a blog post which might help you out: anthro-fantasy-club.deviantart… Basically, if the paper is white, it should look white - not dark grey. The details should also be nice and crisp and not faded out or blurry.
You need to know how to blend your colors. You don't have to be awesome at it by any means -- I just don't want to see colored pencil scribbling or streaky marker coloring throughout your gallery. As long as you try to keep things clean, you'll get in. Here's a blog post about that too: anthro-fantasy-club.deviantart…
No lined paper. No crumpled up paper. Nothing that looks too messy or rushed. I'm literally just looking for a good presentation here.
For digital artists who aren't members:
I don't want to see a ton of filters and clashing colors in your artwork. If you're new to digital art, I recommend that you read these blog posts before you sign up: anthro-fantasy-club.deviantart… anthro-fantasy-club.deviantart…
No MSpaint (unless you're a pixel/sprite artist).
If you want examples of what I'm looking for, just look at the artwork from the Anthro-Fantasy-club exchange: anthro-fantasy-club.deviantart…
More About this Round:
- You can choose who you want to draw for through the "Your Choice" journal, which will be posted shortly after signs ups are closed. For more details about the "Your Choice" journal, please look in our blog's history.
- All pictures entered into the exchange must be fully colored, and must show at least the upper half of the character. If you try to turn in an uncolored sketch or something else that doesn't meet those requirements, you will be asked to fix the picture. Portraits and uncolored sketches are not allowed!
- Detailed backgrounds are optional, though I would like to see *something* in the background to make the picture look more complete.
If you're working digitally, it would be easy to add some simple textures or colors to the BG, like in these examples:
And if you're working traditionally, you could add some watercolors to the BG, or you could use colored paper, like in these examples:
Note: You don't have to use any of these techniques, but they can be used if you're having trouble coming up with a background idea on your own. - You can sign up with up to three characters in this exchange; however, only one of those characters has to be drawn by the person drawing for you. This also works in reverse: if the person you're assigned to draw for lists more than one character, just choose your favorite character and draw them.
- If you have any questions about the exchange, please contact us through the group's note system. This journal is for sign-ups only.
Artwork for the October/November exchange is due by November 30th. You have until October 1st to sign up.
To sign up, just leave a comment on this journal with this form filled out.
